For most of you who don’t know, the Discovery Club is a sister business to the Oak Bay Beach Hotel located in Victoria BC. The Hotel is currently under construction and will open its doors in March of 2012, as Vancouver Island’s first 5-star hotel.

One of the ways to be a part of this iconic landmark is with a Discovery Club membership. As a member should you stay at the Hotel you will be treated over and above the regular guest experience. As such we have begun to go on the road to detail this relationship in order to promote both the Discovery Club and the Oak Bay Beach Hotel.

Our team along with newest Club member Kelly Hrudey will be presenting 3 events in the near future in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. (more…)

It took me 28 years but I finally arrived at a place that felt like home. It was if I could feel the pulse of the entire world originating at this one location. The Subway lines were like arteries with this global beat rippling out into the rest of the world. The grass was as green as it could possibly get here and I didn’t need to look at the other side. I had met my match with this mega city and the thrill of the chase was on.

New Affiliates October 2010

I have a friend who was proposed to at the Rockefeller Skating Rink on Christmas Eve (talk about romantic!) and ever since that day I’ve dreamily thought about visiting New York with its bustling streets and ever so friendly inhabitants.

Well…here I am at my desk dreaming once more as I introduce you to two new affiliates in New York, the St. Regis and Le Parker Meridien. In addition we have The Tides Riviera Maya in Mexico, a stunning all villa property, and the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort “the most impressive accommodations in the South Pacific.”

The Place for Destination Club News

One of the biggest obstacles facing the Destination Club industry is the lack of education in the marketplace.

Destination Club News run by Levi Moe is an excellent source of information. Within this site you can access an industry directory as well as their Destination Club guide. Levi has been covering the current Ultimate Escapes bankruptcy and has been providing his readers with relevant, quality content in regards to this high-profile failure.

Our new member and official spokesperson, Kelly Hrudey, of NHL and CBC Hockey Night in Canada, recently shared why becoming a Discovery Club Member made sense for him:

Our Recommendation…Asia

The Great Wall of China, stretching over 8,850km, is one of the most recognizable structures on earth.

With such a vast and fascinating landscape of travel opportunities available in Asia, I found it impossible to limit our recommendation to only one hotel, so I have expanded our recommendations to a glittering example in each of the 5 countries Kyla featured in her article. These are truly some of the most stunning hotels in our collection, and indeed the world… they are each worth taking the time to dream about, believe me!

Discovery Club Official Spokesperson

Official Spokesperson - Kelly Hrudey

The Discovery Club is proud to announce our newest member and official spokesperson, Mr. Kelly Hrudey.

A formal NHL goaltender, and now CBC Hockey Night in Canada commentator, Kelly is a recognized and respected Canadian for his involvement both on and off the ice. This past weekend we sponsored Let’s Talk Hockey in Calgary with Kelly who was the evenings MC. The annual event raises funds for the Calgary PREP Program, which assists individuals with Down syndrome so that they are afforded every opportunity to be active, contributing citizens in the community.

The event was a great success, with the Discovery Club team on hand to announce our partnership with Kelly and present 1 lucky winner with a weekend membership.

Earlier in the day at a Discovery Club presentation Kelly told the audience about the process in becoming a member and why he had chosen to do so. “It makes sense for me and my family,” (more…)
